GOOD ADVICE FROM A QUORA DISCUSSION ~

A friend of mine who was a police officer told me something about police which I’ve always remembered. He said , “If the police stop you or “talk” to you, they are unlikely to do anything which will make your day better, but they can do all sorts of things to make your day worse.”

Police, in this instance, are like vampires in novels and TV shows. Would you invite a vampire to cross your threshold? They can’t come in unless you invite them (unless they have a legal reason, like a warrant, in which case they won’t ask.) Keeping them outside, especially in the rain or cold, will keep you safer, and make your interaction with them public and most likely short. These are both good things.
