The Constant Weave of Deception – Famous Presidential Lies

truman-pianoAll politicians are liars. (This is no earth-shaking report, so far.) They have to continue with well-packaged lies in order to keep their jobs as long as possible. It may be the only occupation where such distorted rhetoric is accepted without challenge. 33rd President Harry S. Truman described even the elevated position of occupying the Oval Office as no real improvement on the overall vocation when he said, “My choice early in life was either to be a pianoplayer in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there’s hardly any difference.

John F. Kennedy certainly told his fair share, but most of his were to Jackie rather than to his constituents.

lbjProbably the best one LBJ ever came up with and certainly his most everlastingly devastating was, “We were attacked [in the Gulf of Tonkin].” In August of 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson needed a pretext to commit the American people to the expanding covert war in south East Asia. So the Gulf of Tonkin incident was staged claiming that Vietnamese patrol boats had attacked a U.S. destroyer off the coast of Vietnam. This staged incident paved the way for 58,000 American deaths and over 1,500,000 Vietnamese. And even though the false attack was publicly substantiated by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, it never happened, but the military/industrial complex needed its war for financial reasons, and more than 58,000 Americans paid for it with their lives.

nixPresident Richard M. Nixon: “I am not a crook.” [Yeah, right!]  Ironically, Harry Truman warned the nation (more than a decade before Watergate) during the election summer of 1960 when he said, “Richard Nixon is a no-good lying bastard.  He can lie out of both sides of his mouth at the same time, and if he ever caught himself telling the truth, he’d have very little to say. You don’t set a fox to watching the chickens just because he has a lot of experience in the henhouse . . . Nixon has never told the truth in his life.” Never one to pull punches, privately or publicly, ol’ “Give ‘em Hell, Harry remarked later, “I don’t think the son-of-a-bitch knows the difference between truth and lying.”

g-fordPresident Gerald Ford: The [JFK] bullet wound was moved from the upper back to the back of the neck in order “to clarify meaning, not alter history. My changes had nothing to do with conspiracy theory.” (None except to make the frontal throat wound appear as an exit in order further implicate Oswald. Ford, as a member of the Warren Commission cover-up corps, perpetuated this lie for more than three decades until his death.)

j-carterPresident Jimmy Carter: uttered the politician’s classic, “I will nevah lie da you.”

r-reaganPresident Ronald Reagan: During a 1983 Congressional Medal of Honor ceremony, the ever-Red, White & Blue hero Reagan told a war story about military heroism that never happened. The scene Reagan described was actually from the 1944 film “A Wing and a Prayer.” When questioned, White House Press Secretary Larry Speakes’ could only retort, “If you tell the same story five times, it’s true.” The movie star All-American is still hero-worshipped and greatly missed by Republican diehards, but the fact remains that he could fantasize with the best of them when the right story fit the necessary scene.

bushPresident George HW Bush:  “Read my lips – No new taxes.” Of course, this was just another politician’s blatant lie. However, as a point of historical interest, it should be noted that no president ever told a more terrifying truth than GHWB with his 9/11/91 “coming New World Order speech” to Congress precisely ten years prior to the day of the September 11th inside job blamed on the Arab Muslims.

b-clintonPresident Bill Clinton:  “I did not have sex with that woman… Miss Lewinski.”

No, of course, not – and not with the previous few hundred, and you didn’t inhale either. Now the accusations loom that the sex addict president may have actually been outdone in that extra-curricular activity by his bi-sexual wife, Hilary, who is already vying for the Oval Office on her own. More on her shortly.

bush-ch-ruPresident GW Bush:  “Iraq has weapons of mass destruction.” Neither Afghanistan nor Iraq were in any way implicated in the 9/11 “attacks,” but some satisfying reason had to found to attack them in order to capture both oil lines and heroin plants. This big lie was reiterated by VP Cheney, Sec. of State Powell and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld – all of whom had the prior knowledge to have known better.

— Iraq war; “Mission Accomplished”, “Enhanced Interrogation”, “Democracy for the Iraqi People”

President Obama: Unrestricted drone assassinations, more wars, more civilians killed;

“Change you can believe in!”

obama-lies

After his first “election,” appointed-President Barry Soetoro, aka B. H. Obama, disregarded the known tax evasion of Tim Geithner, Tom Daschle, and Nancy Killefer and nominated them to his cabinet. He then went on fabricate far more stories than could ever be recorded here that would fit the current daily or weekly situation, but a few are:

  1. I will have the most transparent administration in history.
  2. The stimulus will fund shovel-ready jobs.
  3. I am focused like a laser on creating jobs.
  4. [The Benghazi attack] was a spontaneous riot about a movie. I knew nothing about what happened in Benghazi.
  5. If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon. (This might be true. However, the deception was the White House inserting itself into a criminal case with the president endorsing the black victim before any testimony had been heard.)
  6. I will put an end to the type of politics that “breeds division, conflict and cynicism”. (see previous example showing exactly the opposite.)
  7. You didn’t build that!
  8. I will restore trust in Government. (It hasn’t been lower since South Carolina seceded in 1861)
  9. The Cambridge cops acted stupidly.
  10. The public will have 5 days to look at every bill that lands on my desk (via C-Span).
  11. It’s not my red line – it is the world’s red line.
  12. Whistle blowers will be protected in my administration. (You know, like Snowden and dem NSA guys.)
  13. We got back every dime we used to rescue the banks and auto companies, with interest.
  14. I am not spying on American citizens.
  15. ObamaCare will be good for America
  16. You can keep your family doctor.
  17. Premiums will be lowered by $2500.
  18. If you like it, you can keep your current healthcare plan.
  19. It’s just like shopping at Amazon.
  20. I knew nothing about “Fast and Furious” gun-running to Mexican drug cartels.
  21. I knew nothing about IRS targeting conservative groups. The IRS is not targeting anyone.
  22. I have never met my uncle from Kenya who is in the country illegally and that was arrested and told to leave the country over 20 years ago
  23. And, I have never lived with that uncle. (He finally admitted on 12-05-2013 that he DID know his uncle and that he DID live with him.)
  24. And the most violated one of all has to have been: “I, Barrack Hussein Obama, pledge to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Dr. Richard Cordero of the New York City Judicial Reform Board further points out that the sitting president has so far dodged that Affordable Health Care Act (Obamacare) bullet that should have led to his impeachment – particularly with the multiple lies told to Americans that the new would not affect their current health insurance.  “Instead,” writes Cordero, “The insurance of millions of them has been cancelled and they have been left by insurers with no more option than a more expensive insurance with features that they may not need but that are in compliance with Obamacare as the President now pretends to understand what his own signature piece of legislation offers.  His motive for lying to them would have been to support the passage and implementation of Obamacare and thereby establish his place in history.” Cordero also points out that by ignoring the lies (concealment of assets) told by Sonia Sotomayer in her resume’ prior to his appointing her to a seat on the United States Supreme Court, Obama has saddled the American public for the next 30 or more years with a life-tenured, dishonest justice who must now forever conceal those assets to avoid incriminating herself.

The documents submitted to the Senate Judicial Nominations Subcomittees showed that she could not account for the income that then-Judge Sotomayer herself had declared and posted on the Internet. Cordero writes, “So it was in character for [Obama] to disregard the incriminating information about J. Sotomayor’s concealment of assets, nominate her, and lie about her honesty. He had a motive: to cater to those petitioning for another woman and the first Latina for the Supreme Court, and receive in exchange their support for passing Obamacare.”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich summed up the situation in the current administration about as succinctly as it could be done when he said, “The parallel between the IRS story and Benghazi is amazing. Lying, then lying about lying. Then hiding from the fact that they are lying. Then seeking to apologize for lies they claim they didn’t tell. This pattern is a culture of big government that believes it is more important than the American people.” Later in a contentious interview on Super Bowl Day with Bill O’Reilly, Obama insisted there was “not even a smidgen of corruption” contributing to the IRS targeting of any tea party and other conservative groups when they applied for tax-exempt status. Yeah, right.

h-clinton.jpgYup, and while we are on that trail of lying politicians, no list would be complete without including the Butcher of Benghazi, Hillary Clinton. Way back on March 25, 2008, after Hillary had become a serious contender for the Democratic nomination for President, Dick Morris compiled and published “HILLARY’S LIST OF LIES” at “TheHill.com” With here making the serious noises again about running in 2016, we should be aware of some excerpts: The USA Today/Gallup survey clearly explains why Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) is losing. Asked whether the candidates were “honest and trustworthy,” Hillary scored only 44 percent, the lowest rating for any candidate for any attribute in the poll. Hillary simply cannot tell the truth.

Here’s her scorecard: Admitted lies:

  1. “Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.” (She was actually in bed watching it on TV.)
  2. Hillary once claimed she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. (She later admitted she “was wrong.” Sir Edmund became a household word when he climbed Mt. Everest, which was five years after her Ms. Rodham was born.)
  3. She was under sniper fire in Bosnia. (Never happened. A girl presented her with flowers at the foot of the ramp.) • She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the futures market. (It didn’t cover the market back then.)

According to Morris, here are “Whoppers She Won’t Confess To:”

  1. She didn’t know about the FALN pardons. • She didn’t know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that Clinton granted. • Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error.
  2. She didn’t know her staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so. • She didn’t know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost $700,000 more than she reported it had.
  1. She opposed NAFTA at the time.
  2. She was instrumental in the Irish peace process.
  3. She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda.
  4. She played a role in the ’90s economic recovery.
  5. The billing records showed up on their own.
    1. She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke.
    2. She was always a Yankees fan (she grew up on the north side of Chicago where even White Sox fans are persona non grata).
  6. She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons).
  7. She negotiated for the release of refugees in Macedonia (who were released the day before she got there).

Dick Morris is a former advisor to many politicians from both parties, including former President Bill Clinton, and here further points out Bill’s constant weaving of deception, this time in a recent 5-minute TV ad attempting to elevate his wife in the public’s eye. “If you happen to see the Bill Clinton ad for Hillary,” says Morris, “in which he introduces the commercial by saying he wants to share some things we may not know about Hillary’s background, beware! I was there for most of their presidency and know them better than just about anyone, I offer a few corrections;” Bill says: “In law school Hillary worked on legal services for the poor.” The facts are that Hillary’s main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student-monitoring committed to trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal. Bill says: “Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children’s rights project for poor kids.” The facts are: Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him. Bill says: “Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers.”

The facts are: She flunked the DC bar exam, yes, flunked, it is a matter of record, and passed the Arkansas bar only, according to Morris. She had no job offers in Arkansas, none, and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She did not join the prestigious Rose Law Firm until Bill became Arkansas Attorney General and was made a partner only after he was elected Arkansas Governor. Bill says: “President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors, and she became its chairman.” “Not exactly,” says Morris. The facts are: The appointment was in exchange for Bill’s support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary then became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter’s choice to be chairman. Bill says: “She served on the board of the Arkansas Children’s hospital.” The facts are: Yes she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Wal-Mart board of directors, for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices. Bill says: “Hillary didn’t succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994 but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance.”

The facts are: Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. (Morris adds) I know; I helped to negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals’ tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds. Bill says: “Hillary was the face of America all over the world.” The facts are: Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic, and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them. Bill says: “Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children’s and women’s issues.” The facts are: Other than totally meaningless legislation such as changing the names on various courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation.

With a record like that, is it any wonder that we suspect her of being less than American? And you want this lady to be our president? Oh … and why haven’t we heard about this before? It seems that a news media pursuing honest reporting would be interested in this level of dishonesty and unethical behavior by Hillary Clinton. And there is no better source of truth on this subject than Dick Morris.
