BIDEN FLEECED INVESTORS, TOO ~

The New York Post revealed on Saturday that former Vice President Joe Biden’s now-inactive cancer research charity, The Biden Cancer Initiative, was nothing more than a way to funnel charitable giving from donors to the charity’s staff and executives — several of whom were former Obama administration officials. 

Allegations that Biden’s cancer charity was a cash funnel first arose in June when the Washington Free Beacon reported that “Nearly two-thirds of the money the Biden Cancer Initiative spent since its founding in 2017 went toward staff compensation and six-figure salaries for top executives. The group spent far less on efforts to eradicate cancer.”

The Beacon reported:

The nonprofit raised and spent $4.8 million over its two years in operation, its 2017 and 2018 tax forms show. Slightly more than $3 million of that amount went to salaries, compensation, and benefits. At the same time, the group spent just $1.7 million on all of its other expenses. A bulk of this cash—$740,000—was poured into conferences, conventions, and meetings. It did not cut a single grant to any other group or foundation during its two-year run.

Now, the Post has confirmed the allegations by reviewing federal tax filings. Records show that the Initiative’s president, Gregory Simon, was paid in $429,850 in the fiscal year 2018 alone. Simon formerly led the Obama administration’s White House cancer task force and has a history as a health care lobbyist.

Another former Obama administration official, Danielle Carnival, who served as chief of staff for Obama’s cancer task force, took home $258,207 in 2018.

Former President Obama’s cancer task force was formed and launched in 2015 after Biden’s elder son, Beau Biden, died from a brain tumor. Biden was placed in charge of the task force, and after leaving office, claimed to be continuing efforts to find “urgent” solutions for treating cancer with his own charity.

However, according to federal records, Biden’s cancer initiative never distributed a single grant for actual research, though Biden did install a number of leading oncologists and famous cancer survivors on the charity’s board.

Simon defended the lack of grants by claiming that the point of the initiative was never to issue grants for research but to “find ways to accelerate treatment for all, regardless of their economic or cultural backgrounds,” but did not clarify the actions taken to do so.
